Overview

First Call is a global Motorola campaign that celebrates the 50 year anniversary of the first cell phone call ever made. I developed and executed a comprehensive content marketing strategy that aligns with the company’s overall marketing goals and objectives. This included assets across Motorola’s global web, social, CRM, and YouTube channels. Through this campaign, I was able to work with former Motorola engineer Martin Cooper, who invented the first cell phone and made the first call. I’m incredibly proud to have been able to work on this campaign that tells the story of one of the most pivotal moments in the history of telecommunications.

Modeling/Rendering

For the campaign KV, I wanted to touch on the golden aesthetic typically associated with 50 year anniversaries. I wanted to ensure the visual captured the essence of the moment in ’73, but highlighted its relevance to modern-day Motorola technology. Therefore, I decided to show the old original cell phone Motorola developed, alongside our newest flagship product- the razr. On screen of the razr is Martin Cooper calling, signifying him making the first call. Renders were created using Cinema4D and Redshift. Full mock and wordmark created in Photoshop.

Social Media

Social media engagement included reposts of the hero video across North America, Europe, India, Latin America, and Asia Pacific geos. All Motorola channels updated profile pictures to the 50th wordmark, and KV adaptations were created for all cover photos and day-of posts.
